Hi, I am Dr. Nagaraj Adiga, an AI researcher and engineer with over 15 years of experience in speech processing, machine learning, multimodal LLMs, and generative AI.
I am currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist at Outcomes AI, where I lead work on multimodal LLMs and voice AI systems for healthcare applications. My work focuses on building safe, scalable, production-ready AI systems for real-world clinical and patient communication workflows.
Previously, I worked at Krutrim AI, Samsung R&D Bangalore, Zapr Media Labs, Apple Cambridge, and Nokia. My research and industry experience spans automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, speech enhancement, voice conversion, speech LLMs, on-device AI, Indian language technologies, and healthcare AI.
I did my PostDoc in the Department of Computer science, University of Crete, Greece, under Prof Yannis Stylianou. I completed my Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati in 2017 under Prof. S. R. Mahadeva Prasanna, and my B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from UVCE Bengaluru in 2008.
My research focuses on machine learning, speech processing, multimodal LLMs, and generative AI for speech, audio, and healthcare applications.
I am currently working on end-to-end conversational AI systems for healthcare use cases such as medical scribing, voice bots, patient-facing chatbots, and voice audit analytics. My work involves building production-ready AI systems that combine automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, large language models, and clinical workflow automation.
Previously, I worked on several speech processing problems, including speech enhancement, speech synthesis, automatic speech recognition, emotion recognition, and language identification. In particular, my research has focused on improving the quality, robustness, and usability of speech synthesis and speech recognition systems using both signal processing and deep learning approaches.
Research interests: Machine learning, Signal Processing, Speech Processing
